Glock 35 recoil spring question?

I shoot USPSA competitions with my Glock 35. I have a stock recoil spring (and plastic guide rod obviously), should I upgrade to an 11lbs spring (I think the stock weight is a 13lbs spring) and stainless steel assembly? I shoot Limited-Major so I'm looking for speed and accuracy. Last shoot I went to I was moving faster than the gun and was litterally waiting for it to cycle. I think it would be a good upgrade but I want to see what your opinion is.

The short answer is yes, a new spring will help the gun cycle a bit faster, though the trade-off will obviously be increased felt recoil, which will likely hinder your accuracy. Stock spring weights for the 35 is typically 17 lbs, if memory serves (don't have the armorer's manual handy,) so something in the 12-14 lb range should work well with standard loads, but you could go even lighter if you are comfortable with the recoil or go with lighter loads.

A heavier tungsten guide rod (vs. metal or plastic) will help mitigate some of the "snappiness" in the recoil, and help keep your follow-ups on target. I'd also look at handloading or getting custom loads as a possible way to balance the recoil/cycle equation, since standard .40 loads are pretty snappy.

I'd also go with a lighter trigger spring for a better feel and lighter pull weight, and perhaps a lighter striker spring, as well.
