With a DJ turntable do you need a vinly for each song, or can you keep one vinly and switch songs?
I have a DJ mixer and i'm looking for turntables. But i dont know if i should get an expensive set of digital turntables without the needle or one with the turntable needle. To be honest im not familiar with turntables at all but i mix music everyday using my software and Virtual DJ. If anyone can explain to me what turntables are all about and can answer my question, feel free to answer. Thanks
Wow dude you should really research DJing if you are planning on buying turn tables. I mean you want to be successful or at least remotely good you will spend at least a few hundred dollars and several hours so you need to ask yourself are you willing to put the effort in learning how to be a DJ or do you want to do it for fun?
You really need a needle for each deck and you will need at least two decks with a needle on each one. First off I don't know anything about virtual DJ because I think it's a complete waste. But I'm not going to bash virtual DJ. If you want to use a software with a turn table then you will need first a software that support timecode. I don't know if virtual DJ does but you need to figure that out. Then you will need a mixer that supports timecode. Then you will need two turntables and yes two needles. Then you will need an external sound card that supports timecode and hook it up to your mixer and turntables. Then you will need two vinyl disk that support timecode and you will use only those two. What timecode does is transfer your song from your computer directly to the vinyl and you can do this with several songs. This saves a lot of space and money since you don't have to buy so many records.
Traktor Pro supports timecode and it's the best DJ program in the world so you should check that. Im telling you DJing is complicated and you need to research it and make the choice of going through everything. good luck
