Vintage Vinyl Record Players
Decent vinyl record player?
I am looking to buy a really decent record player for my dad's birthday next month - he has loads of old vinyl records and out player broke years ago. Ideally I'd like one with a vintage look, but most importantly one that plays well and isn't going to burn out on me after a few weeks. I'm willing to pay good money for one but it must be really good - I have no idea where to start choosing one and don't really know what I'm doing - any suggestions as to where I might find a really good one, or does anyone know a particular model that I could consider? Thanks so much in advance 
First of all, these 'vintage look' all-in-one record players are just cheap, poorly made tat and they sound lousy. They are built for convenience and not for sound quality. Don't buy one - they are just not worth it.
If you really want your Dad to enjoy his vinyl, you'll need a turntable (prices start at around £150), an amplifier (prices start at around £200) and a pair of speakers (prices start at around £80).

Vernons Vault of Vintage Vinyl $96.59 The International Bluegrass Music Museum, Owensboro, KY, has a large vinyl album collection which is difficult to share with their worldwide community. While having a revolving exhibit of album covers can provide a way to share the albums art with visitors; they are still unable to share the music without possibly damaging them and it does not enable the Museum to reach its worldwide audience of bluegrass fans. My solution to this problem has two steps: create a computer database system with the information from each of these albums and to digitize the albums. The album information would be integrated with the digital sound recordings to provide a comprehensive database of the Museums album collection. I focus on the first step of this solution, the steps taken to record all of the information from a portion of the Museums Vernon collection. I also examine bluegrass music as a genre, its history and origins, and discuss how bluegrass music fits into society today and why it is important to preserve this vital musical genre.
