Usb Stereo Turntables
How do you get music off a vinyl LP onto a laptop?
I have a turntable which has a USB cable to plug into either a stereo player (which I usually do) or onto my computer/ laptop. I have connected it and the laptop has recognised it and said it is installed and ready to use. But it is not showing in "my computer". I would like to rip the music off the albums and put it on my ipod.

Is there such an item as a USB adapted for a vintage reel to reel as there is for an record turntable?
My father wrote a lot of music and songs when he was alive and I wanted to burn these reel to reel tapes to cd's before they get ruined if they are not already. I know there is a turntable available now with a USB adapter, but is there a stand alone USB adapter with the vintage stereo red/white plugs on it? If not, any suggestions?
You should be able to buy a cable which will connect the tape deck to the sound input of your computer (usually 3.5mm stereo jacks) Then use some audio recording software to digitally record the sounds from the tape. You should get pretty good quality this way. I don't think there is a USB option for this.
