Usb Converter Turntable
Got problems setting up my Turntable?
today i bought a small USB turntable, nothing to fancy just something to record songs of the LP to my itunes.
but i have some problems:
When my turntable is plugged in, i need to use the coverter to run it and when it is plugged in, sound from my other software stopped working at all.
i got 2 RCA plugs, one red and one white, coming from my table along with the USB, do i need to plug those in aswell to hear better music?
when i run the converter, it sais i am running it on mono instead of stereo, how do i fix that?
I have a phono preamp with USB output. The first time I plugged it in via USB, it changed the default audio inputs and outputs on my computer to "USB". You could get your sound working again by going into the control panel sound settings and keeping the default input set to USB and setting the default output back to your sound card.
I've read things about the newest versions of Windows calling all USB devices a "microphone" input and the default setting is mono. There is a way to change the USB microphone input settings to 16/44.1 stereo. I'm not sure exactly how to do it because I still use XP. There's info out there you should be able to Google for, now that you know what you need to do.
Using the USB output to your computer would probably result in the best sounding digital recordings. No need to hook up the turntable's analog outputs. But, for just listening, it would probably be best to use the analog outputs from the turntable and an adapter to hook the turntable straight to your computer speakers. Then, you'd be listening to the analog sound without it being digitized. This is assuming you have separate computer speakers and you're not using built-in laptop speakers.
