how do you connect cable TV with all of these other audio-visual-sound devices???
we cannot figure this out, but we must! okay, dig: my roommate and i are old audiophile farts. we literally have long-playing records made of vinyl! and we have CDs and a CD player(s), including one part of our stereo system, that will run 100 CDs one after the other. and we have a DVD player & DVDs. and we have a TURNTABLE! and real speakers! and cable TV, with a digital converter box! and an FM/AM receiver!
HOW do you connect all of these elements together (combo DVD/VHS players suck) in one entertainment center (that's real pretty) so that you can play all of them, as well as so that:
you can get the sound to come out of the big speakers rather than out of the TV speakers?
if you have a good diagram or can scan one, please tell me how i may ask for it via your email!!! Thanks!!! 
Hi,
What you need is a multichannel audio reciever amplifier.I have purchased a Pioneer for just around $250 Canadian. Nowsadays they allow you to connect up to 7 speakers and a subwoofer (7.1) channel. Go purchase a one with a lot of inputs (line ins RCA left and right audio). You should check the impedence or the ohmage of your speakers and buy one according to the ohmage. If yours speakers are 8ohms, then you need to get a reciever with 8 ohm speaker outs. If yours i 6ohms then you need a 6 ohms one. You get the idea. Now you can connect your DVD sounds, VCR sounds, TV line outs, to this reciever. Thats why its important to have enough inputs on the reciever. You connect the equipments to reciever with RCA audio cables. For the DVD player connect the 5.1 digital coaxial cable to get theatere experiece when you wathc movies. The video from DVD, VCR all goes to the tv NOT the receiver. The receiver is just for the sounds. Remeber to turn off the tv's internal amplifier by going into the tvs menu.
