Turntable Theme
Holding a Halloween Party and need to think of a way to incorporate my costume into the theme. ?
Last year I went as a Gothic Doll and did a psycho kid's haunted house with bloody dolls on nooses and stabbed teddy bears. This is my 5th year and I am running out of ideas! I know the costume will be Mrs. Cleaver (black goth 50's housewife dress, bloody cleaver [get it, lol], bloody apron, cake tray of body parts and so on) so my thought was to do a 1950's martha stewart-y type haunted house - cake stands with brains, a record player that has a bloody head on the turntable, etc...) I want to keep it bloody and scary and I am having a hard time thinking of ideas that aren't too cutesy. I have two weeks and very little money so it would be cool to have things I could make. Any thoughts?
Love the ideas so far- I like the idea of making everything bloody / 50's. Now I have to figure out what would make my contemporary house look 50's-ish. 
You could put fake guillotines in the window...

Entertaining Weddings
Any bride and groom will know the endless list of things to consider in the lead up to their special day – and entertainment is definitely near the top!
Many of us will have a story or two from being guests at weddings that were memorable for the wrong reasons – whether it was the DJ playing Danny Osmond, the groom's drunk Nan providing ‘entertainment' on the dance floor or the magician accidentally singing his eyebrow off during his grand finale….
Now we can't guarantee little mishaps won't happen, but we can help point you in the right direction on how to provide unique, memorable ways to celebrate your special day for all ages and tastes …Here's a few ideas to help make sure it's a day that not only the bride and groom remember, but the guests too…
Music...Of course a must, but the big decision is what type; band, disco, DJ, jazz quartet… the options are endless! How about the alternative disco… offer couples the opportunity to ‘DJ' throughout the night – give them three songs to pick and a go on the turntables – this is a way to guarantee an eclectic mix of tunes for everyone - whilst giving guests a chance to be in the spotlight!! It's also a great way to plan the play list beforehand.
All-round entertainer... Why not go for a wedding theme? Admittedly what may pop into your head is a tacky fancy dress party á la Jordan – not the elegant, sophisticated event you had always imagined - but it doesn't have to be so. Why not go for a 20's theme – giving the bride the opportunity to go for a beautiful vintage dress, which is proving to be a big trend in 2010 weddings, flapper dresses for the bridesmaids, a rag-time band, a casino table in the corner, orchids everywhere, a photo studio for guests to have 1920s snaps taken…
Create a surprise bang..Fireworks are a spectacular way to end the day – we think this would be a truly romantic surprise for the bride/groom as a special wedding day present. There are now a few fireworks companies that offer wedding fireworks, either individual fireworks, like the ‘wedding cake' or readymade packages, or even a bespoke display co-ordinated by a pyrotechnic team. Displays can be chosen by time length, type of fireworks, for example crackling, glittering, spinning, whistling, or even by colour so it can match the theme of your day, whether that's pink, silver, gold or green. Definitely a spine-tingling crowd pleaser!
Bouncy Fun... Good for the kids in the day (just make sure you have somebody watching over them!) whilst the adults can enjoy socialising, eating, drinking and general merriment. Once the children are in bed the adults can turn back into big kids to enjoy the fun too – just watching this is brilliant entertainment in itself once people have had a few drinks!
These are just a few seeds we've sown to get your creative juices going for planning the big day and making it special – just make sure you do something which you want and that will ensure you and your guests have lots of fun to make it a day to remember!
