Hi, I´d like to buy an entry level turntable (pro-ject debut most likely),however I´m not sure if I should buy a/v receiver with pre-amp or amplifier with pre-amp. If I understand correctly, amplifier doesn´t have and impact on quality of the sound? So will I be fine with receiver/preamp/speakers? Speakers I guess are the most important?
The amplifier can have some effect on sound quality but any decent amp will be so much more "perfect" than your speakers, that you don't need to worry about the amp until your speakers are in the thousands-of-dollars range. Just get an a/v receiver. Try to find one with a built-in phono preamp; if you can't find one, use an outboard preamp into one of the receiver's "aux" audio inputs.
