Turntable Recording Systems Help buying a turntable that can work with these speakers?
Hello, I'm looking to buy a turntable to play my records. However I want to be 100% sure that the turntable will be able to be upgraded and hooked up to speakers down the line. Also, I recently found an old stereo of mine that was broken. However, I think the speakers are still salvageable, but I'm not sure as to how to make them work with new systems. There's no plug, it's just wires dangling out.
Anyways, What (upgradable) turntable should I buy? And are the speakers (pics below) salvageable to use with a modern turntable?

There are a few things that you need to have in order to play records properly.
There are big differences in the quality of turntables and there sound quality. For a starter table I would highly recommend the REGA P1 (which is sold complete with cartridge) or if you want to spend alittle more get the REGA P3 24, this is a extremely good turntable at its price range.
All turntables must have a tonearm, a phono cartridge (that must match the tonearm properly) and also very important is a phonostage that amplifies the signal from the phonocartridge, and re-equalizes the signal back to a flat frequencys responce. You must have a phonostage that also properly matches the type of phonocartridge you will be using.
All turntables must also be properly setup and calibrated as to not damage the records, and sound and play your records correctly. You may need to ether have the table calibrated by a professional who knows how to setup turntables or buy the necessary tools to do it yourself.

From your description I think this is an older component system. There should be a power button on the turntable component itself. Usually it's in the front. Once it's on the turntable should spin as soon as the stylus is lifted. That's how almost all of these work. I can't tell where it is on the picture. Maybe the front panel even swings open.
