Turntable Recorder OK, be Honest. Who *bought* an 8-Track player for your home or car way back when ?
I had a Sanyo bi-amp 8-track player in my '75 Duster, an Emerson combo-stereo-turntable-8 Track thingie at home, *and* (shoot me !) an 8-track *Recorder* from Radio Shack back in the 80s.
I had an 8-track recorder too! I still think they sounded better than cassettes...

USB turntable connected to a Mac?
I'm using a USB turntable to convert my vinyl lp's to digital format. It works fine, but as I record the songs on the lp's, it also records any noise in the background, such as me talking to someone else. When I used to record from lp's to my cassette recorder, it didn't do this. Is this normal?
You might have audio input turned on from both the turntable and the built-in microphone. Check your audio settings carefully in both the recorder app and in System Preferences - Sound - Input.
