What needle do I need for my pioneer PL-590 turntable/record player?
If it still has the original cartridge in it, the correct stylus is the Pioneer PN-240. If you Google or search eBay for "PN-240 stylus", you'll find several places to buy one. Here's a photo of one to see if it looks like you still have the original cartridge and it's what you need. The color may be different, but if the shape looks right from that angle, it's probably what you need.

If that stylus looks wrong, your table probably doesn't have the original cartridge installed. You could look for markings on the cartridge and try to figure out what it is... or you could replace the whole cartridge with any other standard 1/2" mount cartridge. One of the "Red Eds" from Ed Saunders would probably be a nice match and a little better sounding than the original. The elliptical stylus model would sound best...
