Turntable PreAmp Radio Shack
Turntable / receiver setup question?
i have a stereo receiver with a record player hooked up in the only spot on the back.
it can only hook up one turntable thru the jack on the back of receiver.
i have a second record player i want to hook up to the back of receiver to also play thru for scratched records,
it there an adapter i can use to set up 2 turntables on my reciever that can only hook up one one the back ?
is there something i can use ?
i called radio shack and all they did was confuse me even more.

IS HE WRONG OR WILL THIS SWITCH WORK PLUGGED INTO PHONO ON BACK OF RECEIVER AND THE 2 TURNTABLES PLUGGED INTO THAT SWITCH ?
HE SAID ALL I WOULD GET WAS DISTORTION AND STATIC.
PLEASE HELP.
It should work fine. The phono preamp is built into your receiver for the "phono" input. You'd be using the switch between the tuntables and the output would go to the phono preamp. I don't see a problem since the switch is passive... except that it doesn't seem to be available online or in stores...
You could consider a small DJ mixer with 2 turntable inputs... or adding an outboard phono preamp, allowing you to use a standard line-level input (tape, CD, DVD, aux, etc...) for one of your tables. The outboard phono preamp would probably increase the sound quality for the table hooked up to it as an added bonus.
The ART phono preamps are nice-sounding at a reasonable price... with or without USB output...

not sure what your trying to do
if you want to hook up a turntable to a receiver that does not have a turntable/phono input you will nees a preamp
