Turntable Motor Power
How do I make a small motor for a mini turntable?
I need to make the topper for a cake spin/rotate. Can I buy a motor small enough for this or can I make one? Also, I do not want to use batteries but would rather use electricity to power it.
It is not so much how small the motor is but reducing the speed to an acceptable level. For gear reduction, put a small pulley or gear on the motor and put a larger pulley on the turntable. The speed reduction is:
motor rpm * rmotor pulley / r turntable pulley
AC Motors have a way to turning at standard speeds 3600, 1800 rpms, etc
DC motors can have speeds based upon the voltage applied.
Then there is step motors that are controlled by a digital driver.
