Turntable Kit
Need ALOT of help, thinking about getting into DJing!?
For a long time ive been considering getting into DJing. Turntables, mixing, the whole 9 yards. I'm working with somewhat of a modest budget, but I found this kit that looks pretty good. In general, the reviews were pretty good:

As I said, i'm very acknowledgeable in the ways of the DJ. So I have a few questions:
1) How do you get the music onto the turntables, do you have to buy records or can you use CDs? (like those used before cassettes).
2) How does the turntable set i linked above look? (effectiveness, features, ease of use, etc?)
3) Any other advice, comments, etc.
That kit is basic but will do the job, it has allthe features you need, and you'll adapt to the spinup speed.
You can't use cds with those decks, only records. If you didn't buy a package and brought a 4 channel mixer instead you could add cdjs at a later stage to add some cds into the mix. Those ones need vinyl.
My only comment; it's cool you're looking into proper vinyl djing, most people these days use exclusively cd or computers, which work out all the beat matching for you. Good on you!

The Right DJ Equipment for the Right Job
DJ gear is crucial, especially if you are a disc jockey. OK but in all seriousness, whether you're just starting out, or if you are needing to replace all of your equipment, you need to know the basic pieces of DJ equipment that will help you to perform your best when it comes time for that big event. The event may be anything, from a wedding, to a party party, to someone's backyard party. Regardless of what it is, not only do you need the best apparatus you want equipment for each occasion as well as hardware that works rather well for YOU.
The biggest question of course is what kind of DJ are you going to be? Do you intend to be a stationary DJ? Maybe setting up your own radio station? Or do you want to be a mobile DJ, and for shortage of a better term, a bard. This definitely has an effect on what type of DJ kit you may purchase as there's some that can be set up permanently and some that's able to be picked up and moved at will. If you're more of the second, then you need to make sure that you get cartable DJ apparatus as well as a carrying case for your gear.
The 1st, and perhaps the most significant part of the DJ equipment is a turntable. The meaning of turntable has changed rather a lot with the passage of time, as originally a turntable was a device that played vinyl records. Since that form of media has been and gone we have switched to other types such as CD's, DVD's, flash media, and that kind of thing. You also need to ask yourself if you're going to be using CD's at all. Maybe you will be wanting to employ a portable PC with some variety of DJ program. Before you ask, no, Winamp is not a DJ program.
If you are going to be performing at events or anywhere at all for that matter then you're going to need to make certain you have got a decent microphone. People are going to need to hear what you are saying, so you want to make certain of two things before you get a microphone. First off you need to ensure that your words are sharp and clear so everybody can understand you and you do not sound like the dispatcher at a drive thru restaurant . The second thing that you're going to need to test is that the microphone doesn't have too much feedback. If it does then you are going to find that nobody can hear you, and in fact all they're going to hear is some kind of screeching sound.
Remember that you're going to be performing in the dark lots of the time, so be sure that you have work lights. There are certain lights sold that will light up your board but they won't trouble the event that is happening outside of your booth.
There are lots of other pieces of apparatus that you're going to need to buy, of that there isn't any doubt, but you always have to make sure that the DJ equipment you purchase is of high quality and that it works for you personally. Everybody is different, so make your decision wisely!
