Turntable Amplifier Do I need an amplifier for a modern turntable?
Hi.Chris. If you are serious about the quality of the sound of vinyl then it is best to buy a turntable and arm only, and a separate amplifier and speakers.A modern Turntable will have no Amp.built in.Otherwise there are cheaper players with inbuilt amps. but they are poor quality.Have you got any idea what you would prefer ? I have a dedicated vinyl music system which sounds better than CD.

Diggy – I agree with the other answerer but you can safely use a 500 watt into 8 ohm per channel amp with no problem. The key to any DJ setup or sound system is to not push the amp into distortion. Distortion blows speakers. Watch the peak or clip lights on your amp when you are playing the system loudly – it is ok if they light a little bit but not too much. Listen for distortion too. If the system is distorting, TURN IT DOWN!
