Transfer Cassette What do I need to transfer cassette to cd and reduce noise reduction?
1. A cassette player of good quality helps reduce noise. A portable works OK but you will not have as good audio quality.
2. RCA to Mini Plug Cable. This will connect between your cassette player and the audio "Line-In" on your PC.
3. A software program like Sound Forge (Free download) that can do Hiss and Noise cleanup.
And CD Burning Software like Nero or similar.
You might also consider that the CD Burning programs have noise reduction applications included. I have used "CD Spin Doctor" by Adaptec with good success, however this is no longer available and the "Easy CD Creator" software is now part of either Nero or Roxio.

how can you transfer cassette to hp Pavillion notebook?
would like to know how to connet a cassette player to notebook to copy tapes into mp3 file to then transfer to itunes. I have a sound recorder program called freesound recorder but it does not show how to connet the player to notebook as the sound card is inside. Do I go thru the micro phone? or somewhere else. reall newbie to this thank you
Certainly if you are happy with mono sound then the mic input will do, but far better to get yourself a USB device such as the Griffin Imic which will allow proper stereo input into a device that does not have a stereo socket.
There are varius devices around, even the cheap ones are fairly good although they may not be as robust...
There is more information on the link below in 'what's your source', but specifically there is a page about USB devices here:
