Best way to ship vinyl LP's (records)?
I am currently living in Arizona and attending college and I want my vinyl record collection. However, I have between 150 and 200 vinyl records, and they're all back home in Michigan. I desperately want my LP's, but I want to make sure that they get here in one piece... and relatively inexpensively. Obviously the cardboard-sandwiching technique is not applicable for this many records. Also, there is a huge difference in humidity (60% versus 15%) and temperature (50F versus 90F) that might damage the records if not handled properly.
Any ideas on cost-effective ways to safely transport this many records? And, while we're at it, any ideas on shipping the turntable?
Records can be sent in 3 or 4 sturdy boxes via U.S. media mail, a rate significantly cheaper than priority or first class. Or, attempt to find someone near your michigan hometown who soon will visit in the Arizona area of your school. Go Bucks!
