Tascam Dual why does sonar, cubase, ntrack, ableton, and reason all suck donkey balls?
they are all totally worthless programs! if you can't record audio with a intel quad core 2.5 q9300 4gb of ram, 500 gb 7200 rpm wd hard drive and a tascam usb 2.0 us 122 mkll audio interface, or a dual core 2ghz 3gb ram 320 7200 rp wd hard drive laptop with the same audio interface? i would definatly say that computer based home recording is definately a thing of the past! i am one very disappointed dude right now! i will stuck recording a lowly wimpy zoom mrs 1608 with crappy effects for the rest of my life i guess? There must be something wrong with your configuration because I design and build computers for digital audio creation with similar specs and they work fine. I mostly build for ProTools, including the hardware mixer, but the others still work great even with huge audio tanks like SampleTank. Start off with stripping off all programs you don't need off of your OS. You also shouldn't have internet on your PC that you use for audio creation. You should also use preamps and blah blah blah I'm not gonna explain everything but point is you shouldn't be having a problem.
The role of a computer in a recording studio is for storage, effects processing, and song management. The quality of the song should depend on the other hardware in your setup. If you don't have it in your budget to get all the other hardware, make sure you at least have a high quality sound card.
