Stereo Realistic Why do I get alot of Feedback when I turn up my stereo?
I have a Pioneer Amp and a Technics Turntable, when i am playing a record and i decide to turn it up loud i get a feed back from the sub woofers in my speakers, it only comes from the two tower speakers they are 8 ohms and my amp can handle 8 ohm speakers. they are realistic speakers and are about 20 years old, the amp is about 15 any ideas? oh i just went back and made sure all positives were with positive and negitaves were with negitaves, when i am getting the feed back i have to lower the bass to get it to calm down but after i get a little higer i cant fix it?
Don't know what kind of Technics table you have... If it's one of the lighter plastic jobs, it's a common problem and there's not so much you can do. A heavier table or a table with a good suspension system will usually have more resistance to acoustic feedback at higher volumes.
Careful placement of the turntable can help. Keep it away from speakers, etc... A wall shelf may help...
Cartridges that track a little heavier or are a little less compliant can help... A subsonic filter may help... That feature used to be built into a lot of receivers when vinyl was popular. KAB USA sells a separate one, but it's $169.00 and may or may not solve the problem in your particular system and room.

Realistic Evaluation shows how programme evaluation needs to be, and can be bettered. It presents a profound yet highly readable critique of current evaluation practice, and goes on to introduce a manifesto and handbook for a fresh approach. The main body of this book is devoted to the articulation of a new evaluation paradigm, which promises greater validity and utility from the findings of evaluation studies. The authors call this new approach realistic evaluation. The name reflects the paradigms foundation in scientific realist philosophy, its commitment to the idea that programmes deal with real problems rather than mere social constructions, and its primary intention, which is to inform realistic developm Author: Pawson, Ray/ Tilley, Nicholas/ Tilley, Nick Binding Type: Hardcover Number of Pages: 256 Publication Date: 1997/06/23 Language: English Dimensions: 9.66 x 5.90 x 0.77 inches

Turn your cellphone into a personal stereo
Back in the 80s, the only way you could listen to music on the move was by using a personal cassette player such as a Walkman or by carrying around a bulky boom box. This gave way to the personal CD player in the 90s, and the hard disk-based mp3 player in the 2000s.
However, advances in removable memory storage such as micro-SD cards and mobile phone technology have made it possible to use your cell phone as a viable portable music player, capable of storing thousands of songs on a little piece of plastic the size of a thumbnail, which could potentially spell the end for portable music players such as the iPod.
All 3G phones are capable of behaving like mp3 players, although you will need to get a few accessories if you are to make the most of their capabilities. Although most phones come bundled with a cable to connect to a computer, and a basic pair of headphones, you will almost certainly need a better pair of headphones, an adapter for those headphones, and a memory card, if you want to get the best out of your phones media capabilities.
Before you download your digital music collection onto your phone, you must first find out which file formats are compatible with your phone, and if necessary, convert your music files to that format before copying them across. There are a number of freeware converters available online to help you do this, although the genuinely free ones are rarely near the top of the search engine listings, so you may have to do a little research.
Unless you just want to listen to the same few songs over and over again, then you will probably need to get a memory card. These can come in capacities of up to 16GB, which is enough to store several thousand songs and even a few full length movies. These can be bought cheaply from the web or from back street mobile phone stores, although avoid buying them on the high street as they can be very expensive there.
Unless you are really strapped for cash, it is a good idea to buy the largest capacity memory card you can find, as you will most likely just leave it in once you have installed it, and you will have to wipe files constantly to make room for new ones on a smaller card.
Although you can use the earphones that came with your phone when you bought it, these are generally not very good and will produce a somewhat tinny sound. A small investment in a good quality pair of headphones, from a recognised brand such as Sony, AKG, or Beyer Dynamic, will reap a huge reward in terms of your listening experience.
The currently fashionable in-ear headphones do have an advantage in that they are unobtrusive, but they can hurt your ears after a while and produce a tinny, trebly sound which can be fatiguing. Larger headphones may draw more attention to you, but they are a lot more comfortable for long journeys and are capable of producing a far more rounded, realistic sound. You might need to get an adaptor, but these are widely and cheaply available from most consumer electronics stores.
