Stereo Phonograph how do i correctly connect a vintage silvertone medalist tube amp to four vintage speakers?
the amp has two banks (right, left) of four speaker connections: 16 ohms, 8 ohms, 4 ohms, com.
i have one medium sized speaker with 15 ohms written on the back, two smaller speakers labeled wxl 906, and one standup up cabinet labeled "audette by kingdom lorenz", that has a volume knob on the bottom.
the amp will be hooked up to a phillips 437 phonograph and a sanyo rd 5030 stereo cassette deck.
i plan to space the speakers around a large room.
so how does this old thing work?
WOW! Cool Tunes daddiO, R the speaker wire the "plug in" type OR if they R the old screw the ends 2 the back of the amp type U will want 2 look @ the wire , One side will have a dotted line printed on it, that one will screw 2 the (pos + ) post & the other to the (neg - ) screw or post, Dont worie about wats & ohms u cant hurt the old . It just means that the more speakers u hook up the less wats/omh s you push through each spkr. when its on & crankin ajust that knob on the bottom, Where did u dig up a relic like that?

Digital Audio Sound -- Music for Our Ears
Spending my youth in the 60's and 70's, I am blessed with happy recollections of being sprawled out on the floor in my bedroom, listening to a stack of my parents' LP records. A few of the records were as thick as a buttermilk pancake, stout and weighty. two things were set in stone – those records could scratch too easily, and there did not exist a convenient way to skip around and play different songs. Actually, my folks had a requirement. You cannot move the stereo stylus around. If you desired to listen to a song on a record, you played the complete side. I evolved into a big fan of Scott Joplin, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Bing Crosby, because that was the stuff that my parents had. That was great stuff. wholesale electronics stores back then put their energy on size – bigger was louder was better.
Even after the advent of cassette technology, my prep school dances in the 1970's and university dances in the early Eighties would be hosted by disk jockeys who used vinyl records. The sound quality of records was so much more superior than cassette tape technology. The DJ would usually have two phonographs so that he could get the alternate one prepared with the next song while the current song was playing. Cassettes were ideal for the automotive hi-fi system, but the sound just didn't have the same tone or richness. Electronic wholesaler(s) had a pair of alternatives to follow – compact and affordable for the automobile, and mammoth and powerful for the home.
Digital audio technology has improved all that. At first, the audio quality of a CD was more similar to cassette tape than to vinyl records, but that rapidly changed. Following the lead of other technological advances, and then becoming a leader in its own right, audio digital capability has moved into overdrive and is producing a higher quality of sound with a smaller, more affordable device. Electronic wholesaler(s) have music devices available for anybody, not only the music lover. Everybody who is even remotely interested in music can find an affordable product that produces way better audio quality than ever before imagined.
This means that today's kids have an entirely new horizon available to them. They are not limited by a mere pile of vinyl. In fact, on my little mp3 player, I have hundreds of songs accessible at the flick of the thumb. There's no possibility of scratching the media and damaging the song. If you plan to sample ten seconds of one hit and then move on to another song, that's fine. We aren't limited by location – walking down the street is no problem – or by anything else, other than time. Now if only wholesale electronics stores could make a product that can provide us with more time.
