Marijuana possession on school record, not criminal, affecting college applications?

I have "possession or marijuana" on my school record, but I am 98% sure it is not on my criminal record. How will this affect college admissions? Are there any colleges that are more forgiving?
Also, I switched schools since then, when we moved, and I asked that school where it happened for my transcript, and it just had my grades on it. No record of what happened. Was it taken off? Can I indicate on college apps that I have never been suspended since it's technically not on my transcript? Would they find out?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know where I'm standing and what to expect! I am a good kid, I just got caught up in the wrong thing when life at home was getting difficult. I've maintained a clean record and great grades/extracurriculars. I am just worried that one situation will overshadow everything else, if it even shows up on my application.

If the police were not called, if you were not given your constitutionally guaranteed right of due process, then it's just gossip. I wouldn't worry about it. If it comes up again, contact a lawyer and request they remove it from your record.
