Sounds Turntable Help with sound from Stanton turntable?
I just bought a Stanton t.90 turntable. The sound is great. It only sounds distorted when it reaches the last song (the song closest to the middle of the record) on either side. This happens with every record. I noticed the same happened with an ION usb turntable I used town. Is this something that just happens with turntables in general?
Your problem is simple.Your stylus is worn out. As the smooth, rounded point of the stylus gets worn, it develops a chisel-like shape. As the arc of the radius of the record increases topward the end of the record, more and more of the sharp, worn edge is presented to the groove walls, causing distortion. Replace it right away. It can kill your discs real fast. If it's not the stylus, another thing to check is the anti-skate setting, if that machine has one. If it's set wrong, it can cause one side of the stylus to press with excessive force against one groove wall toward the end of the record. The third possibilty is that your records were formerly played with a very badly worn stylus, and are permanently damaged. Let's hope it's not that.

Any genius out there to help an 80 year old, My Ion turntable to configure on Vista?
I had no problem on XP but cannot find an icon on Vista control panel to reveal sound card to make codec usb my default. Help line on Ion all gobblededook. What was so simple on XP , all I want is sound on my unit!
