Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A talking clock (also known as a speaking clock or auditory clock ) is a timekeeping device that presents the time as sounds. It may present the time solely as sounds, such as a phonebased time service (see Speaking clock) or a clock for the hearing impaired, or may have a sound feature in addition to an analog or digital face. Although they would not be considered to be speaking, clocks have incorporated noisemakers such as clangs, chimes, gongs, melodies, and the sounds of cuckoos or roosters from almost the beginning of the mechanical clock era. Soon after Thomas Edisons invention of the phonograph, the earliest attempts to make a clock that incorporated a voice were made. Around 1878, Frank Lambert invented a machine that used a voice recorded on a lead cylinder to call out the hours. Lambert used lead in place of Edisons soft tinfoil. In 1992, the Guinness Book of World Records recognized this as the oldest known sound recording that was playable (though that status now rests with a phonautogram of douardL on Scott de Martinville, recorded in 1857). High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Naked is the eighth studio album by Talking Heads, released in 1988. It was their last studio album, with the band dissolving after the albums release and finally announcing their breakup in 1991. Initial pressings were one of the first and few CDs from Warner Brothers Records to be encoded with CD+Graphics, a videotexttype signal with song lyrics, instrumentation, chords and other information, viewable on a standard television from a compatible CD or KaraokeCD player (other albums to feature CD+G include Fleetwood Macs 1990 release, Behind The Mask). The graphics were produced by Warner New Media and designed by MCo. Such discs were identified by a sticker on the CDs shrinkwrap and as part of the CD label artwork. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Founded by Sam Phillips, Sun Records was known for giving notable musicians such as Elvis Presley whose recording contract was sold to RCA Victor Records for 35,000 in 1955 to relieve financial difficulties they were going through, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Buddy McNeil, and Johnny Cash their first recording contracts and helping to launch their careers. Before those days Sun Records had mainly been noted for recording AfricanAmerican artists, as Phillips loved Rhythm and Blues and wanted to get black music recorded for a white audience. It was Sun record producer and engineer, Jack Clement, who discovered and recorded Jerry Lee Lewis, while owner Sam Phillips was away on a trip to Florida. The original Sun Records logo was designed by John Gale Parker, Jr., a resident of Memphis and high school classmate of Phillips. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. History of the Victor Talking Machine Company (Part 01)

Transcription services USA

Transcription refers to the process of conversion of audio into text format. This is usually carried out by manual typists called as transcriptionists or by automated transcriber software’s. As software’s tend to be highly inaccurate, and whose accuracy fluctuates with clarity of audio, transcriptionists are still the preferred option for transcription.

Transcription services have demand from across the board, when it comes to industrial sectors, academic circles and independent media content producers. Businesses conduct interviews, seminars, talks, discussions etc. Research institutes and universities also conduct interviews, workshops, speeches of dignitaries etc. These interactions are all recorded for reference. And to make archiving of these recordings more meaningful, these are transcribed too. Now-a-days, with digital audio/video formats making it easier to record, store and transfer audiovisual data, we have a whole new bunch of independent media producers like podcasters, webcasters, documentary makers etc. There is a heavy demand for transcription from these new-age professionals too. Then we have the legal firms, tech firms, healthcare services etc. who are also needing specialized transcription services, owing to the terminology laced nature of their recordings.

The choice of a transcription company is undoubtedly an important one to be made. The service you select must have adequate experience and expertise in handling your project. A company that has a well-recognized clientele should be your best bet for quality transcripts. The transcripts must come out accurately and they must come to you in time. Your recordings may contain sensitive data, and so the service must have strong data security measures in place. And to top it all, transcription is a supplementary requirement, and so it should be ideally a low cost affair. A transcription service that meets all these criteria is the best one to go for.
