Record Turntable Stylus
Can I record 78 vinyl records at another speed?
I want to record my old 78's as CD's. My very nice Pioneer turntable has no "78" speed. Can I record at 45 or 33 speed and then correct it using recording software (as I edit out the noise)? I know I need to use a different stylus for 78's, but otherwise can I do what I propose? I would prefer not having to buy an old "78" turntable!
As stated, I know I need to use a 78 stylus!
I tried to play an old 78rpm record once on a Garrard turntable with a modern 1-gram stylus and heard nothing. The walls of the 78's grooves were far too wide. You might have to see if you can borrow a 78rpm turntable from someplace, or perhaps there is a studio you could go to.
You could probably import the audio in to a program such as Sound Forge and make a speed adjustment there.

Noisy Stylus - Tobeyer's Scratching Challenge
Who still buys their albums on Vinyl Records.?
Vinyl record sales went up loads in 2009, to the point that they were rivalling CDs for the first time in 22 years, this year, more people are using vinyl again. I love it, its that procedure of taking the big white paper cover out of the nicely decorated cardboard cover, and then taking the record out and putting on the turntable, unclipping the arm, and then flicking the switch to put the stylus on the record. I love it! In fact my "Some Girls - Rolling Stones" album needs turning now.
I still play vinyl but I haven't even seen new records for sale in ages. I have Some Girls on vinyl, btw, in the original jacket before they had to change it. Is yours the original one?
