How do I hookup my vcr so I can record?

I have a VCR, an LCD TV, a DVD player, a receiver, and a Comcast cable box. I thought I could just hook the Comcast cable out to the VCR in with an rca cable and it would work, but alas, it isn't. Does anyone know how I could go about doing this? If there are multiple ways, I would prefer one that just involves the VCR, an rca cable, and one other source.

Thanks in advanced,
Chris

If you used the rca cable then if you wanted to record you would set the VCR to input for the analog cable to record. To watch and/or record the VCR you need to select the input or aux instead of a TV channal. ( you may have forgot this when thinking it was not working)

Your easiest way would be to use the antena out on cable box to antena in on the VCR, and VCR antena out to the antena in on the TV
instead of antena you could use rca jacks to tv.
You just have to remember that the VCR has to be on to watch the tv and usually the TV is on channel 2,3 or 4 ( or input if using the RCA)

Some other option that you could use:
Cablebox out (rca) to TV (input1) AND also cable box (cable) to VCR then VCR cable to TV
Also you could add an antenna with the VCR.
(to record you still have to set the VCR to input or aux)

You could then watch local and record cable.

You may also set it up to use a cable split and AB box.
(this may not work on all to test go from wall to TV skipping the cable box)
Cable from the wall to split in , then split out to cable and spilt out to VCR antena IN
Take one cable out from cable box to A on the AB box and another from VCR to B and then the out of AB to TV

You should be able to record anything (most before 63) that don't need the cable box and still watch everything.
This will make it to use your VCR timer and channel to record.
For you to watch the cable flip A on the AB and to watch the VCR flip the B

Selecting The Mini Disc Player That Is Best For You

Mini disc players are specialized audio devices that are capable of playing mini discs, which are discs similar to a traditional CD but smaller in size. There are a number of different mini disc players available on the market, from those that are small, lightweight and easily portable to larger devices. Before purchasing a mini disc player, it is important to have a good idea of what you will use the disc player for and to consider all of the options available to you.

To Record or Not to Record

Most people that purchase a mini-disc player do so with the intention of recording with the device. Be aware that there are many models that only play mini discs. Therefore, if you intend to make recordings, be sure the model you select has this capability. For ease of use, look for a model that has easy push buttons for recording.

Consider Size and Durability

If you plan to use your mini disc in your car, it might not be too much of a problem if it is a bit on the bulkier side. If, on the other hand, you intend to wear your mini-disc player when you go out for a jog, it is a good idea to find a model that is smaller and lightweight.

Similarly, if you wish to use your mini disc player while working out, look into getting an anti-skip model. The anti-skip feature allows the disc player to actually read ahead on your disk and save it to memory. That way, if it receives a jarring that would normally cause it to skip, it can play on flawlessly.

Keeping an Eye on Battery Life

As with a traditional CD player, a mini disc player is powered by AA batteries. In order to make sure your have endless musical play, look for a mini disc player that has a battery life indicator that clearly tells you how much juice is left in your batteries. That way, you can be sure to replace the batteries before the power runs out.

Staying Informed

For added convenience, you might want to consider purchasing a mini disc player with a clear display track. If you wish to stay completely informed about what you are listening to, look for a disc player that displays title information through a bright and easy to read LCD screen.
