Who's the female German cabaret singer being played on an old record player outdoors in Saving Private Ryan?
There is a scene toward the end of the movie where an old record player is sitting amongst the ruins and rubble of war playing this beautiful music of a woman I believe to be German. I am really intererested in purchasing her recordings, but do not know who she is and I have come up empty searching elsewhere on-line to my question. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thanks!
lovely,isnt she?thats edith piaf,a famous french singer.the song in that scene,if i remember correctly,is "la vie en rose",or "life thru a rose-colored haze"(romantic aura).she came from a background of poverty and adversity to become a famous singer around the world.i've loved her since i was 15-no, i'm not really old, i was just an "artsy" kid-guess u are,too! u can find her recordings at borders bookstore and elsewhere,including online.she died in paris i think in the 50's and is buried at pere lachaise cemetary-she beat jim morrison there !!!
