Help on being DJ for fun?
I've seen people just a really advanced looking stereo but others have turntables and laptops. Can anyone tell me what I need to become a DJ? nothing super pro. im looking to spend less than $1000, i already have a laptop tho. When you write out the list of what I need, can you also give me a little bit of info on what it's used for? and whats that software that can play music from a laptop through a turntable? is there a specific kind of turntable that works with the software? what kind of sound system do you recommend? thanks all

This uses turntables playing control tracks to your computer from vinyl that allow you to manipulate mp3 in real time.
You can also go with something like Virtual DJ Pro:

This is software that will do a lot of stuff and will accept input from external controllers if needed. I use this software for party/wedding/private function events where I know I won't be needing turntables.
As far as sound goes, it really depends on what you aspire to be. For most a pair of speakers on trees with a subwoofer or two will be more than enough for most apps. If you're doing club work most decent clubs will have a house system. With a budget such as yours I would get the software and turntables (if you need them) and a GOOD pair of phones so that you can learn your system. Them add PA as you can afford to, remember that you get what you pay for.
