new sony dvd drive cam without ide cable?
i got a optiplex dell desktop, i bought a new sony dvd drive that didnt come with an ide cable, my desktop has three smaller cables that i know would connect to it, im not sure what their called, one leads directly to the power, and the other to the motherboard and another to the sound, iv never had to connect a dvd drive this way,does anyone know how? maybe have a link to a manual or instructions?
Its a sata drive, so you would need to have a motherboard with sata as well. You should usually have 2 to 4 of those slots on your motherboard so just connect them to the first one. Thats the only real difference, everything else is the same, connect the power and sound cable. Go to the bios and set Primary and secondary drives to auto detect if not already. And away you go
