Pioneer Turntable I can't afford Pioneer CDJ-1000MK2. What now?
I'm a dj with intermediate turntable experience looking to purchase my first CDJs. I prefer the excellent quality but realistically my finances can only afford perhaps second best for now. Which CDJ is next in line in performace and value?
I got the Rane-Serato Scratch Live and a Mac Book for X-mas. Looking ahead five years or so, do you think purchasing CDJs is a good investment if I already have laptop dj software? Or do you see them fading out to mp3 mixers or others?

Have a Pioneer PL 550 turntable. What is Quartz Lock?
Just found a nice working Pioneer PL 550 turntable today. But what the heck does the 'quartz lock' do. And was does the anti-skate knob do as well?

The Quartz Lock is used to improve the pitch of the music. Think of it as fine tuning the sound.
The Anti - Skate mechanism allows the user to preset a specific amount of opposite force (measured in grams) which may be placed upon the Tonearm Assembly. to defeat the tendency of the Tonearm to want to "Fly: toward the center of a Record during playback.
