Phonograph Record Stylus
What is the frequency? (Physics - Vibrations and Waves)?
At one place in a groove of a phonograph record the "wave" is 0.04 cm long. This travels past the stylus with a speed of 36 cm/s.
(a) What is the frequency of vibration of the stylus?

(b) In the inner groove where the speed is 18 cm/s, what will be the wavelength to give the same frequency as I part (a)?

Note: .027, 36 and 1.44 are all incorrect answers for Part A and I haven't been able to find Part B without a correct answer to Part A.
a) 36/0.04 = 900 Hz
b) half what it was.
Note - you do not need the answer to a to work out b. It's going at 1/2 the speed so to read out the 'wave' in the same time ( time = 1/frequency) it will need to move through half the distance).
