Bad buzzing with my Technics stereo receiver/turntable?
Im getting a really bad buzzing sound with my technics stereo receiver when i am using my turntable. I am rather technically illiterate so this may be a dumb question, however, I have the turntable plugged in using phono cable but when i turn the sound to one quarter or half i get a really loud buzzing.. I think my stereo speakers can handle at least 50w each, maybe 100w...
Could it be too much power to speakers, or maybe bad cables or possibly something wrong with my hardware?
Has nothing to do with power output.
You have to make sure you're plugged into the proper jacks. A turntable with a magnetic cartridge needs to be plugged into jacks marked "phono" or a separate phono preamp must be used. A turntable with a ceramic cartridge would overload "phono" jacks and needs to be pluged into any regular line-level jacks (tape, CD, AUX, etc...).
If you have that right, there must be an open connection somewhere. Many turntables have a separate ground wire that must be connected to a screw on the chassis of your receiver or phono preamp. Could it be missing or disconnected? It could also be a bad connection somewhere. The delicate connections between the tiny tonearm wires and the cartridge connectors may have been damaged. Could be a damaged connection at the RCA plugs or corroded RCA plugs. Could be a dirty or corroded connection at the headshell if you have a removable one. Could be a dirty or corroded connection at the cartridge connectors. Those need to be handled carefully with tweezers or gently with needle-nosed pliars. Many automatic turntables have an internal automatic switch that cuts off the sound while the table performs it's automatic functions. Sometimes these switches can become problematic. A shot of plastic-safe contact cleaner in the switch would usually solve that or fix any other dirty or corroded connection.

32Lh30 Lcd - Great Tv
I bought this TV on the basis that it seemed good value given the specification and that it was receiving generally good reviews. I was not disappointed. It's a great product with good picture quality, excellent sound, a good selection of input options and easy setup. It's also recommended by the Energy Saving Trust so you can feel less guilty about your TV's energy consumption. Previously I was a Sony fan but given the price differential I don't regret switching to LG. If you're looking for a good-looking performer at a great price, then go for this TV.
32LH30 LCD - Excellent Television and Monitor
Amazon service is excellent as always. The television picture and sound are superb and you can set your viewing/audio preference to each input and they are memorized and switch each time you switch to a diffent source (DVD/PVR etc).
Only down side to my set is the built in Freeview tuner starts blocking after 15 mins but it can be repaired with a brief switch to another channel. I know it's not my connections as my PVR tuner on the same wire works fine. Can't be bothered to complain as I use the PVR tuner anyway.
Not impressed by HDMI connections as they do not carry the AFD (active format discriptor) line that tells the set to switch aspect ratios (4.3/16.9)like a scart does. Also as this set has not got a phono audio output, I have used a scart output with audio connections but any HDMI source audio is blocked but scart connected equipment is fine.
Still gets four stars due to the price, picture quality and extremely good sound quality.
32LH30 LCD - So Far, So Gooooood
This arrived yesterday. So I thought I would give my initial thoughts;
1. As per usual, Amazon delivery is stonking - although gutted that they are thinking of withdrawing from the Post Office
2. Out of the box, super easy to assemble the stand - ensure that you have a soft surface to do so
3. Channel set up worked seamlessly, and the Sky is as it should be. Re-tuned my remote without any trouble
4. The sound is excellent for an LCD - hum, what hum? But when you attach a 2.1 or 5.1 set-up it rocks
5. I will be getting a XBox 360 Elite for my son for Xmas - which upscales the DVD quality and I am also buying a Blu-ray player for myself (hey, we all deserve a Xmas present - even dads), I will update the both the gaming outcomes and the DVD v Blu-ray in January 2010

As promised back in October I thought that I would update earlier comments, especially as work has sent us all home because of the snow.
TV is still providing a great viewing experience. I have messed around with the picture set up and I have got it just as I want it
ii. The XBox 360 works a treat - especially when you plug in the HMDI cable - the upscaling is pretty impressive on DVDs too. My son has how been banished to his bedroom if wants to game - hey I need some uninterrupted TV time too (think Jim Royle)
iii) Have just set the Blu-ray player up. The texture and depth of the picture quality on a movie is great. Will I replace my DVD collection? Probably not. Will I now just buy Blu-ray discs? The jury is out
I am genuinely please with this set.
