Panasonic over the stove microwave seems to have stopped cooking/working?

We own a Panasonic full size over the stove microwave oven which is approx 4 years old. We installed it ourselves when our prior micro was replaced. When you turn it on by setting a time to cook it will run, turntable will spin, but it will either shut itself off prematurely or just not heat up the food item. I dont think I hear the humm I should hear when it is running properly. Is there an easy/simple do it your self way to test where the problem might be to determine what is wrong and should we replace a part or buy a new microwave? Thanks for any direction.

You said it shut off prematurely. By how much time? The self installation has nothing to do with it. Its possible there could be a problem with the board (control panel) or an interlocking switch. On some of the machines, they had the schematic drawing and along with that was a diagnostics chart. The papers will be inside where the control panel is. I don't recall on the Panasonic but I believe it is accessible through the control panel. Unplug the machine and remove the panel. Then discharge the capacitor (insulated screwdriver accross the two terminals) before you poke around. Sorry I can't be more helpful
