Old Turntable Needles
Massive turntable repair.....?
I recently found my dad's old turntable in the attic. It was very dusty, but I cleaned it off, only to find it did not work at all. When turned on, nothing spins, and in fact nothing happens at all. All the switches seem to be stuck except the power switch. The only response I can get from it is when you turn it, the needle drops. Does anyone with more knowledge on the subject than me have suggestions (or should I just buy a new one)?
Depending on the age / type of this player , some have valves in them , other`s have capasitor`s & resistors in them that might have blown , either way unless you plan to restore it to use or keep it as a keep sake , i would get onother one as it might be quite expensive to restore , But if you plan to get rid of it , you may still find a dealer who would buy it off you for decent money dont just bin it , as it would be another piece of history down the drain ................................
