cat not care about mint, catnip?
ok, so now i understand why my cat was behaving wierd. he was a bit hyper too. he's calmed down now.
but has anyone hear heard of a cat that is not affect by catnip? the older cat i was talking about earlier never seemed interested in cat nip anyway and we've had her for a little over a year.
i tried to get her to smell the massage gel that smells strong like mint. she would sniff it, suspiciously, but isn't interested. the ingredients in the gel is menthol 2.6mg/ml (active ingredient).
she's kind of a strange kitty anyway. mostly main coon and a little bit black tabby.

There is actually a gene that is inherited in cats which is what creates that strong appeal of catnip to cats. About 30% of cats don't have it and won't respond to catnip. It's a "catnip gene"
So yes it is normal for a cat not to like catnip, or for a cat to like catnip. I have three cats and two out of the three love it.

Cat nip/mint......?
Whats something I can do with the dried leaves to put inside for my three cats? They are inside cats, and they love the smell, but I cant have the plants inside.
Put it in an old sock and tie a knot at the end.
