Mono Moving Coil
Car subwoofer power, wiring, and compatibility.?
Ok i just got a good deal on a mono block 1500 BD rockford fosgate amp ($500). Now my next move is to purchase 2 12" Fi Q's which are DVC 2ohm drivers, with a 1000watts rms power rating. The 1500BD power ratings are 1000x1 @ 2ohms and 1500x1 @1ohm. My question is...Because it is a DVC 2ohm woofer, would i need to purchase a second or three more amps? (one for each voice coil) or can i get away with on amp for two subs?
1500 watts would be under powering the two subs combined because they would need 2000 watts and if they are dvc 2 ohms then theyd each be wired to be either one ohm or four ohm then wired together to be back to two ohms so you would only be getting 1000 watts from that amp which is good for one of those subs if they were at 2 ohms. a good thing to get would be one of those Qs because they are really good and get all the possible upgrades on it so that it could handle around 1300 watts and over powering it is better than under powering the two because they would probably blow or you could get the fi q dvc 1 ohm and wire it to 2 ohms and it would be a perfect match. 1000 watts at 2 ohms

my car sub in my room
my subwoofer started smoking, any ideas why?
i have one 12'' kicker cvr that has dual 4ohm voice coils parrallel wired to a 2ohm load with a max handling of 800w and an RMS handling of 400w. i have them run off a kicker ZX400.1 mono amp that puts out exactly 400w RMS when fully up, but its not fully up. i have the sub in a ported box specified for the sub. any ideas on what happened? it just cut off and started smokin and i cant even move the cone of the sub anymore its like something inside melted.
im obviously geting a new one and yes it was brand new but im pretty sure the coils were fried. my only reason for asking is that i dont want to repeat this problem. As for everyone listening to that CRAP, as she so elegantly put it, its easy to talk negatively behind your computer. your opinion on my choice of music wasnt asked for so next time dont waste yours and anyone elses time.
fried the coils go buy another and run it at 4ohm i have the same sub you'll still be happy with it. Breaking in will smell burnt but shouldn't smoke.
