Problems with Pro-Ject Debut III turntable - help needed?
I've got my wife a nice sinny new pro-ject Debut III turntable. We use to have a Kenwood KD-38R but many years ago it went to turntable heaven. However, it was linked to the phono input of the same amp (a technics SU-460) as the Debut III is now. The trouble is I have just tried the Debut and it sounds "terrible" all distoted, volume low etc and yes it is in the phono input. Now I've tried a cheap maplin pre amp and that hasn't done the trick so does any body have an idea what is wrong - other than it being a crap turntable. FYI the amp is fine for everything else.
sounds like it already has a pre-amp. try the aux sockets instead

how do i stop my dog trashing the house?
everytime i leave the house i return home to complete chaos thanx to my boxer dog. he completely trashes everything he can get his teeth into. this includes a pair of turntables, an xbox 360, my hair straighteners and many other things. how do i stop this?! (apart from getting rid of him)
You can stop this a number of different ways.
The first and easiest is to purchase a crate and crate train your dog. A dog that cannot be trusted not to trash the house when you're gone should not be left loose in the house.
The second is to create a dog-safe room that you can leave him in instead of a crate. Ideally, such a room should have nothing within reach of the dog that can be destroyed or would likely be destroyed.
Lastly, give your dog something to do while you're gone. Get a treat ball or kong for your dog to work treats out of when he's home alone - that requires them to use their heads and keeps them from randomly destroying things out of boredom and frustration.
