Detrola KM837 tone arm won't play first 2 tracks?
In the manual it says you have to move the tone arm to the right to hear a click, then you move it to the left. However, I do not hear the click. However from my understanding this is just to get the turntable to start, which it already spins. The main problem is the arm has tension on it when you try to play the first track. It does not play the first track because it moves due to the tension it has on it.
Is there a way to adjust the tension on the arm?
Also I have no idea how record players work. This is just something my mom bought and we can't figure out how to get it to work properly. Apparently she doesnt know how to work the player either, despite the fact that she has records and had a player when she was a kid herself.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
It sounds like there is a switch activated to turn the table on when the tonearm is moved over the record? The switch or whatever is attached to the tonearm that hits it can probably be adjusted so there is no tension when playing the first track. Just need somebody mechanically inclined to have a look.
