Entry level downhill bikes?

Hey, I currently have a trek 4500 mountain bike but have started to get into some relatively serious downhilling. My 4500 is beginning to hold me back as it is can't really stand up to many of the technical sections or jumps on the downhill courses; I've already broken the adjuster on the forks, buckled the rear wheel and shredded the tyres (the whole bike isn't sounding great).

What entry level downhill/freeride bikes are out there?
I'm not looking to spend much more than £1300 but I am willing to consider second hand bikes. I would need something tough and rugged. What would you recommend?

Thanks :)

There are a ton of good brands - specialized, trek, kona, santa cruz, cannondale, devinci, rocky mountain... don't limit yourself to brand bias. Instead, go to a bike store and check out what they have for what you need and get an idea of what is available. What you want to spend is at the very low end of DH bikes, and if you want something really good, you'll probably have to look for used.

API Pondcare Ph Down Adjuster

API Pondcare Ph Down Adjuster

$14.99

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals PondCare pH Down Slowly lower the pH of pond water (making it more acidic) without harming delicate pond fish or aquatic plants. Slowly neutralizes alkaline substances that cause high pH (pH of pond water is affected by mineral leaching, soil runoff & decomposing waste). A high pH limits the ability of aquatic plants to absorb necessary nutrients. Contains no algae-promoting phosphates. pH is the measure of the acidity in pond water. A pH reading of 7.0 is neutral, a pH higher than 7.0 is alkaline, and lower than 7.0 is acidic. Acid rain, mineral leaching, soil runoff and decomposing plant and fish waste can alter the pH and cause unacceptable levels. Some sources of tap water used to fill ponds can also cause extreme pH levels. A pH below 6.8 or above 8.0 should be avoided. A pH level of 7.0 to 7.5 is ideal. pH levels of less than 6.8 can stress pond fish and suppress the activity of the biological filter. A high pH of more than 8.0 will limit the ability of many plants to absorb necessary nutrients. Pond Care pH Down will decrease the pH in garden ponds by neutralizing excess alkalinity (carbonate hardness). This product can be used daily to adjust pH until conditions stabilize. pH Down contains no algae-promoting phosphates. It is important to accurately measure the level of pH in a pond before initiating adjustments. Use a PondCare pH Test Kit to measure your pH weekly. pH should be either raised or lowered by no more than 0.5 units every 24 hours. Do not treat pond water more than once every 24 hours. Plants and algae cause a temporary increase in pH in the afternoon. Therefore, pH should be tested in the early morning to obtain the most accurate reading. Product Features: . Helps bring down pH levels in the pond . Slowly neutralizes alkaline substances that cause high pH Item Specifications: Size: 16oz treats 4,800 US gallons (18,168 liters)

Stop Fifth Wheel Campers From Rocking With A Stabilizer

You drive hours on end to get to your destination. When you finally arrive, you find the camping spot for your fifth when camper is not stable. This is an all too familiar occurrence for many RV enthusiasts, but it doesn't have to be if you know what to do.

Uneven Ground Makes an Unsafe RV

Any time your fifth wheel is unstable, it will shake. You may have experienced this when you tried to sleep; maybe you were laying there and felt a wobble of sorts. This is not only disconcerting to experience, but it's not really a safe condition for you or your family. That is why it is always important to find level ground for your trailer.

Still, finding level ground is not always easy. After all, when you go to a campsite, you have to take what they give you. While most campsites will be somewhat level, years of different motor homes coming in and out of the site makes the ground a little uneven.

5th Wheel Stabilizer

When the ground is not even, a stabilizer comes in very handy. They attach to the front, typically at the king pin, to act as a stabilizer to level the fifth wheel and reduce movement. They come in both electric and manual styles for your convenience and ease of use.

There are several types of stabilizing jacks available: C-shaped stabilizer, telescoping jack stabilizer, hydraulic jack, and tripod jack. To find out which one you would like the best, you would need to research each. However, many campers prefer the tripod jack.

Checking the Adjustments

The most important part of a stabilizer is its ability to adjust. The good ones will let you perform height adjustments by moving the feet. The footpads should be easy to move both inward and outward, even when attached to a trailer.

Minor adjustments should also be made. This is what gets you the best "fit" for your RV. Generally, these are made with a turn screw adjacent with a stabilized adjusting level (like the kind you see on camera tripods and carpentry levels.) Remember, if it is not easy to adjust, then you will not use it. Therefore, thoroughly check the ease of adjustment before you buy.

Checking the Weight Limit

While it should go without saying, if a stabilizer doesn't have the ability to support your RV, then it is pointless. You can expect to pay somewhere around $100 for a stabilizer that can hold up to 5,000 lbs. More weight means more money.

A stabilizer makes traveling in your fifth wheel camper much easier and safer. Once you start using one, you will wonder how you ever camped without it.
