Knob Turntable How can I fine-tune the speed of my turntable if I don't have an adjustment knob?
My turntable seems to run a little fast (around 35-36 on 33 RPM, and 47-48 on 45 RPM). As You can probably guess, this affects the pitch by making it slightly high. Any suggestions?
Here's a little trick for ya. You need rubber cement. Open the turntable. Hopefully it's belt driven. Find the pulley that is on the turntable itself. There should be one also on the motor. You want the one at the center of the turntable. Remove the belt. Take the rubber cement and while spinning the turntable by hand, put a thin layer of the cement on the pulley or shaft or whatever the belt attaches to. Keep it as smooth as possible. Thin layers at a time. Let them dry in between. This will increase the size of the pulley changing the ratio. The bigger the pulley the faster the turntable will turn. May take a little time, but it can be done. If the turntable runs too slow, put the cement on the motor shaft. We used to adjust them all the time when I fixed TV's, radios, and truntables back in the Early 80's/
