Ion Usb Turntable Receiver

Turntable, Speakers, Receivers?

Okay sooo...I just bought an ION USB turntable. Here is the link to it: http://www.ionaudio.com/ionttusb05 . But I don't want to play it through my comp right now so to play it through speakers do I need a receiver and then plug my speakers into the receiver? Or because the turntable has a built in preamp can I plug my turntable directly into a pair of speakers that have the correct connections? I'm so confused right now!

Yes, uou need to plug it into a receiver in order to hear it through speakers.
The signal coming off the needle is very very soft, so a preamp is needed to boost it and equalize it, but it's just a preamp (a signal booster, not really an amplifier) which cannot power a set of speakers by itself.
You don't sound nearly as confused as a lot of people here - you've got all the basics, you just needed that one piece of clarification.
