I've bought a USB turntable, but the sound when playing records is just unaudiable.?
I bought an ION Profile Pro USB turntable from Maplin yesterday, which I bought to replace my ageging turntable on my hi-fi system as it can be connected to a hi-fi as well as a PC.
When I played a couple of records (in good condition too), the sound was so much cracking and hissing and the sound was just unaudiable, yet when played on my old turntable the sounded great and no trouble at all.
I feel that this is a fault of the USB turntable and not the records and thinking of taking it back for a refund. Trouble is, I've opened the packaging (well, I had to see if it worked!), and feel I'm going to be given the runaround, but I still have the receipt.
What can I do, or what should I do folks?
Do you use an amplifier?
Do you use the correct input to the amp? (Phono?)
I know, returning items in Europe is a hassle, but try also calling the ION support. Maybe you are missing something in the setup.
