Improved Plinth
Help with speaker plinths and spikes?
Years ago I got rid of my speaker plinths/bases that came with my AE Aegis Evo 3 speakers as I was unaware that they were of any significance to improving the sound quality. I only managed to find 1 of the 2, so is there any place that I can buy spares or can I just use the spikes without the bases for the same affect?
You could contact Acoustic Energy and see if there any dealers in your area or order one directly from them.
You could build one if you're hand or go to a carpenter, metal or stone worker and have them do it. You could just use the spikes and place the speaker on the floor but I would be hesitant of drilling and holes in the speaker cabinet.
The spikes and plinth are supposed to make the speaker more stationary and isolate the vibrations from the floor to speaker and speaker to floor.
