Hercules Power

whats the difference between Hercules and Jesus?
I mean they were both born from a deity right?
Zeus came down in a "golden shower" to Alcmene, and God came down to Mary though the "holy ghost." and both were virgins.
I mean common what makes one Mythology and the other fact?
I mean if you knew nothing of Christianity and I came up saying that this divine power came down and impreagnated a woman that that child is the savior that you must worship otherwise you will suffer when you die you would think I am nuts. The only reason you buy any of this is because you grew up listing to it. Its just silly.
LearningGuy
realy? give me the year Jesus was born. No one can agree on it.
We have a timeframe for when Jesus was born, taught, and died. We know where Jesus was born, where he travelled, and died.
We have writings from people who lived in Jesus' time, and saw Jesus.
Hercules, his story seems to be foggy with details. I would guess that the writers of these stories didn't claim to personally know him or have seen him to my knowledge.

Hercules - $14.99 Disney's animation team dipped into the rich well of ancient mythology for this musical comedy. The son of Greek gods Zeus (voice of Rip Torn) and Hera (Samantha Eggar), Hercules (voice of Josh Keaton) is stolen as a boy by the minions of Hades (voice of James Woods), lord of the underworld. Forced to live among humans, Hercules is turned into a half-god and half-mortal after drinking a forbidden potion brewed by Hades' right hand men, Pain (voice of Bob Goldthwait) and Panic (voice of Matt Frewer). Now Hercules has the remarkable strength of a god, but is trapped in the body of a human, and before he learns how to use his power properly he goes through a typically adolescent awkward period. In order to become a god and return to his home on Mount Olympus, Hercules must prove himself a true hero on Earth. With the assistance of Philotes (voice of Danny De Vito), a plucky satyr known as "Phil," the grown-up Hercules (voice of Tate Donovan) learns to use his strength to his advantage and becomes a famous and benevolent protector of those around him, successfully battling a variety of gods and monsters. However, Hades, wanting to cut Hercules down to size, sends his secret weapon after him -- Megara (voice of Susan Egan), a seductively beautiful woman under Hades' control, who is to win Hercules' heart and render him helpless against the forces of the underworld. Acclaimed British cartoonist Gerald Scarfe served as production designer for this project, while Alan Menken wrote the musical score. Incidentally, for the Spanish language version of the film, Latin pop singer Ricky Martin provided the singing voice of Hercules, two years before he became a chart-topping sensation in America with his hit single "Livin' la Vida Loca." ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

Do I Live So Much In Regret That I Forget to Live?
There are times in all of our lives when we make decisions that yield undesirable results. These undesired results can cause minor setbacks to our lives, or they can sometimes cause major setbacks to our lives. For people that prefer to take these setbacks as learning experiences, they often have an easier time in dealing with the fact that they were unsuccessful at a given task or that they were temporarily derailed from their goal; however, the point for them is that they have learned from this experience and are ready to move forward. However, for some, these setbacks take on a different meaning, and instead of being a learning experience, the situation has turned them into a victim of their circumstances; thus, they have a hard time progressing forward because they can’t get past the regret and remorse for making a wrong decision.
Regret
Webster’s dictionary defines the word regret as (1) sorrow aroused by circumstances beyond one's control or power to repair (2) an expression of distressing emotion (as sorrow). In essence, regret can often be derived from inability to go back and change the hands of time. It is always said that hindsight is 20/20, and if we were somehow able to know the exact outcomes of a decision that we were make today, then the chances of regretting that decision would more than likely be slim to none. However, most of us are not afforded the luxury of knowing how the unforeseen acts of our decision-making will affect our lives and/or the lives of others, thus, our flaw of being human and making mistakes will surface--which increases our chances of being sorrowful or regretful about that decision.
Although we do not have the ability to change the hands of time to undo what has already been done, we do possess the capability to choose how we deal with our lives going forward. The choice of staying stuck in regret or choosing to be mobile in our life and proceed forward lies within us. Time is something that we cannot control and time is something that we can never get back. All we have is the moment in which we are currently living with hopes of a tomorrow. So do we choose to allow yet another day pass by, or do we choose to be adaptable in progressing forward with our lives? When we live in regret, we are living in the past and thus, affecting our ability to move forward with our lives. In fact, Jonathan Larson summed it up like this, “Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.”
Adaptability
If science has taught us anything, it has taught that in order to survive that we must learn how to adapt to our surroundings. The way that we live our lives is quite similar in theory to what science has taught, as there will be many obstacles that are presented to us throughout our stay on this earth, and most of these obstacles will often try to derail us from the path that we are on. As much as we would like to have a straight and uninterrupted path to achieving our desired goals, it is highly unlikely that every single achievement of a personal goal will be without any potential setbacks presented. However, as these obstacles present themselves to us, do we start all over at square one, or do we adapt and revise our plans at the place where we are currently are?
In relation to regrets and the decisions that we have made that have led to those regrets, do we as individuals often feel that if we had a clean slate and were able to conquer that task again that on the next round, it would be different? Well, in most instances, if you could go back and do it over again then it would more than likely be different (remember hindsight is 20/20). However, the truth is that we are unable to go back and as long as you have a memory, than that slate will never be clean. Yet, what you can do is adapt your thinking into that the setback was an experience that allowed you to learn what not to do in the future. You can adapt your thinking into understanding that you must now chart a new path from where you now currently stand in your life. It is all about changing your perspective and adapting your mindset to reflect where you are currently in life and what you can do to not only survive in your current situation, but understand what adaptations can be made to allow you to be victorious.
Reflection Exercise
In completing this exercise, you are asked to look inwardly to identify what regrets in your life or underlined automatic commitments are keeping you from progressing forward in your endeavors. By being truthful about these things, you will begin the process needed to adapt to your current settings and progress forward.
- In thinking about what is keeping you from moving forward and achieving the desires that you have for your life, what elements exist that are keeping you from moving forward?
- What is it about these elements that you feel are holding you back?
- What positive ground is being gained from dwelling on these elements?
- What steps do you feel that you could take to positively adapt to your situation?
- What positive benefits could come from making some adaptations?
- Are there any negative benefits that could come from making some adaptations to your current circumstance?
After completing this exercise, ask yourself is it more worth you to continue looking backwards, or is there more to be gained from adapting to your current circumstances and finding a way to move forward? By providing an answer to this question, you are beginning the healing process which will allow you to begin to look at your life through a renewed sense of self. Remember that life will move forward whether we want it to or not, and if we are constantly looking backwards and living in a world of “should have could haves”, we will miss out on the opportunity to live. This is not to say that taking a moment to reflect back on where we have been and what we have gone through is a bad thing, it only becomes a bad thing when we choose not to learn from the experience and move forward.
Another helpful exercise to assist with deciding whether or not you want to focus on regret or adaptability is to ask yourself these questions:
- In five years, if I choose to stay in my past regrets, what possible new regrets will I have?
- These new regrets will have the possibility of affecting what areas of my life?
- In five years, if I choose to take positive steps towards adapting to my current situation, what are the possibilities that exist?
- What areas of my life will be affected from these positive steps?
These powerful questions are designed to allow you to reflect on your life and what positive impacts could be had should you choose to take control of your life where you are currently. Remember, we are unable to go back in time and correct any of our wrongs; we can only live in our present moment, and hope for a tomorrow.
