Why speaker distort?
i have these 4 way pioneer 6x9s in the rear. they are 80W RMS a piece and 420W RMS Max. They are running off my pioneer head unit. so when i turn the fader to the rear, shouldn't they be able to handle all the power hte head unit is giving them? they distort after i turn the head unit pass 30. and the fronts are stock and tehy distort after 30 too. whats the problem. i didnt buy a speaker adapter for teh speakers. i just put the wires into the factory harness. thanks
What do you mean proper adapter?
The only thing I can think of is the Q/D connectors that come with the speakers to connect them to the "+" and "-" terminals.
Check to make sure the speakers you installed are in phase meaning the positive and negative wires are the same on both speakers and not reversed on one of them.
If your HU has a bass boost option, make sure it's turned way down or off. And, even in the audio settings make sure the bass isn't turned all the way up.
More than likely you have your bass turned up too much. You're right, they shouldn't distort just being hooked to your HU.
