Good microphones for recording live audio - music studio recording reference?
for my home-based studio - I need to start recording some audio (guitar and maybe some voice and ambient sounds) into my ProTools M-Powered setup and need to get a quality microphone
Shure? MXL? AKG? seems Electro-Voice is probably suited most to voice judging from the name
I'd like to keep it under $200 range

ooh did I mention Rode and Sennheiser - they probably don't have under $200 range...
but I'd like a condenser mic
I've used Shure SM57 and SM58's for 90% of my recording needs. When I need something different, I've used a Samson CO1 (condenser). All of these are under 120$.
The Shure microphones are used by studios... the SM57 is practically a must-have if you want to record an electric guitar.
There are better microphones out there, I'm sure, but these have worked very well for me. Of course, they don't match a tube mic, but what does?

The Smart Touchscreen Phone
Though at the first look, first version of this phone and Blackberry Storm2 9520 look the same, there many differences between the two. Below the surface of the 3.25-inch display lies an electro-mechanical mechanism for allowing and interpreting touchscreen requests, which are different from the previous version. Another variation is that the original Storm had one large plate under its screen for viewing touchscreen inputs, when one pressed the screen, it moved a bit inwards similar to when one presses the button.
Buy Blackberry Storm2 9520, which has replaced the large plate under the screen with four smaller sensors. These sensors are placed under each corner of the display for an appropriate reading and interpretation of the user's requests.
Both of these technologies provide tactile feedback and fall under the RIM technology name Surepress but the new Storm provides more accurate results apart from faster typing, where you are now able to press down on the screen in rapid succession, compared to the past version. The four sensors also offer the capability of multi-press on the virtual keyboard, with the combination of holding down the shift or alt key plus another, which also wasn't possible with last Storm.
With the latest Surepress technology that isn't just mechanical but is electro-mechanical, the screen doesn't move with the handset powered down or even in standby. This would help in preventing wear and tear in the long run and avoid general faults with the movable part of the screen in everyday use.
Design and lookwise, Blackberry Storm2 9520 deals offer the clarity and sharpness. The resolution of 480x360 is the same as before but the picture quality is better, to the point that it comes across as if you are viewing an SD TV picture on the Storm compared to an HD TV screen on the Storm2.
Other notable change is the physical setting of send, menu, return and end call buttons. These have been replaced by touchscreen versions, which are seamlessly integrated into the display. The speaker is moved from the rear of the phone and is now placed on the bottom of the mobile. Internal memory has been upped from 1GB to 2GB. RIM has also adopted the microSD 2.0 spec with the Storm2, using 32GB microSD card storage devices.
The volume, voice command and camera buttons have been changed from metal into rubberised black versions and are still embedded in the case's side. Look for cheap Blackberry Storm2 9520 deals, before someone else does!
