Disc Light Kit
What should i do about an Xbox 360 Disc Read Error?
I have had this Xbox 360 for about 1 1/2 years now, and haven't had this error before (red ringed and sent back twice now.) My brothers and I received three games for Christmas, all of which were brand new. But in the middle of playing these games an error message would show up saying Disc Read error, and telling me to clean the disc with a soft cloth. I have a disc cleaner kit for PC Cd's, and I cleaned it lightly with the cloth within. But the error keeps showing up, and I cant figure out what to do. Any ideas?
Steps I have take so far-
Run light amount of water over disc, clean with soft cloth
Use Disc Cleaning solution and soft cloth to clean

I hate to tell you this but I think it is the DVD drive burning out. That is what my launch system did after I started getting those messages more and more. I had it for a little over 2 years. It has nothing to do with your discs. You might still be covered if you recently got a fixed one from Microsoft. If it isnt covered it will cost $99(last time I checked) to get the DVD drive replaced. However, I would not pay $99 to get a replacement when you can spend $100 more and get a new 360 with the newer chipset, new controller, and a free game or two.
