Crosley Turntable Record Player What is a good turntable to buy?
Alright, so I am a 14 year old who want a good turntable. Honestly, I know nothing about buying record players/turntables. I have this one at the moment. http://www.amazon.com/Crosley-Radio-CR6005A-MA-Turntable-Mahogany/dp/B002N60HES/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1291083706&sr=8-15. I don't know the difference between usb and not usb, I want to also buy speakers with them and I also don't know anything about that. I was thinking about some acoustimass 3 bose, but I am not sure if that is for record players. Please advise me on what I should get. Thanks!
A thrift shop turntable would be the best.
It sounds cheap, but you'll be happier in the end. Pick up a late 80's Dual for $10, get a $30 cartridge for it and it will sound much better than any Crosley (they're terrible).
You will also need a receiver with phono inputs to hook the turntable up to. If your receiver does not have phono jacks, you will need a phono preamp.
You will have lots of speakers to choose from, just make sure their impedance (usually 4 or 6 ohms) matches the settings available on the receiver (most newer receivers allow you to adjust the impedance, so it shouldn't be a huge problem).
Yes, it's a bit more complicated, but you said you wanted a GOOD turntable and Crosley's ARE NO GOOD! Plus there's nothing worse than having your records worn out after a couple of years due to the low quality of Crosley's stock cartridges.
