What is the difference between SeaChem Prime and AmGuard?
Hello!
I recently bought two products made by SeaChem which neutralises toxic ammonia, known as Free Ammonia and converts it into Ammonium ions. The Ammonium ions are then broken down by my filter due to the bacteria colony, and the ammo-carb filter cartridges.
I was wondering, what is the differerence between Prime and AmGuard?
Prime converts Ammonia into a non-toxic form, and so does AmGuard..
Anyone know the difference, if any?

Seachem Prime removes not only ammonia, but chlorine and chloramine. It converts ammonia into a safe, nontoxic form that is then removed by the biological filter in the aquarium. It will also detoxify heavy metals in tap water. You can use this product in new aquariums and when adding/replacing water.
AmGuard removes ammonia and chlorine/chloramines, but it is mainly used for the removal of ammonia and therefore you should only use this product if you have an ammonia problem (though partial water changes and making sure you're not overstocking/overfeeding will deal with the problem and you won't need products).

A water filter cartridge is the most important part in a water purifier. While many people mistakenly take it as just another part in the purifier, the reality is that it is what really does all the purification and filtration the filter is responsible for.
A water filter cartridge is of different types. There are some which are designed to remove sediments from water, there are some for maintaining pH balance in water, and some for softening and hardening the water as well.
In essence, since a water filter cartridge is designed to do a specific task, it is not advised to replace one type of cartridge in another type of purifier.
