What is the best way to become a RN within the Air Force?
I am currently a 25 y/o EMT with a few Community College courses under my belt. My goal is to go to college, gain my BSN, and serve within the Air Force.
It's apparent that I will have to Enlist first, and go to college as I'm currently working upon my contract (which I haven't signed yet). Is there anything I can work toward my favor, either in my contract or after my AIT that could help speed the process of making it to this goal??
I am aware of one program available that allows an Airman to go to college for nursing, receive tuition/book fees for 3 years, and be considered full time in college. This is what I am aiming for, however, I am aware there is red tape to everything and fine print/clauses that the military poses.
Any help or advice??? It's definitely appreciated.
WRONG.
Do not enlist first. You won't have time to finish school
Go Reserves and joing the Nursing candidate program.
You get a 2 year stipend of $1000 a month while you finsih your BSN and a one time $10,000 bonus.
You get your BSN and then you go to OCS or ODS school and then you are an officer.
Navy Nursing has great options to. It is considered the top Nursing Program in the military (all of them are good).
By the way, when you finsih the Military will let you go for your CRNA...it's competitive and otugh but do it! Those nurses are getting $160,000 a year in the civilian sector!
