Audio Receiver Remote

Is there a device that will allow my tv remote control to interface with equipment stored inside a cabinet?

My DVD player, receiver, and DVR are inside a closed cabinet. I'd rather not have to open the door each time I want to use the remote control. Am I looking for a 'radio frequency' converter or something? Looking for something that will allow my remote control to send signal to audio/visual components without relying on infrared technology.
